One year ago yesterday

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the first episode of Uncontrolled Vocabulary. Thank you to everyone who has participated or listened for making it such a successful year.

No show this week

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

Hi everyone. Just stopping in from my vacation to make sure everyone knows that we won’t be recording this Wednesday. We’ll resume production on June 25th. And now, back to the relaxing.

Welcome 6POS fans!

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

Just wanted to welcome anyone who is stopping by after seeing the link from Mitch Joel’s Six Pixels of Separation, my new favorite podcast. Mitch generously played my audio comment in episode 101, which was released earlier today. Thanks to all of you for stopping by. You’ll find the most recent episode of our show [...]

RSS feed issues – testing

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

Last night, I switched my WordPress blogs over to a Subversion setup at the same time that I upgraded WordPress to version 2.5.1. One or both of those things may have rendered the UV RSS feed dead. This is a test post to help troubleshoot that. Pardon the feed reader spam, but that would indicate [...]

Facebook Group > Facebook Page

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

In case you are likely to read only one or two sentences of this post, here’s the moral: I’m asking all Facebook users to join the Uncontrolled Vocabulary Facebook Page, which, for all current members of the Facebook group, means migrating over. Thanks. (For the thirty or so people I just invited to the Facebook [...]

Substitute

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

When I woke up this morning with my throat in mild pain, I expected to fight my way through and host as usual tonight. My sense of propriety (also known as my wife) has helped me realize that what I need to do is recover as quickly as possible. That means prioritizing my health over [...]

Moichandising!

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

I decided that I wanted to have some sort of Uncontrolled Vocabulary T-shirt to wear at Computers in Libraries. Easiest way to do that was through CafePress, so I’m pleased to introduce the Uncontrolled Vocabulary Merch Shop. As you’ll immediately notice, my design skills are pretty limited, although not bad for 1 AM. All the [...]

Facebook fans rejoice!

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

TalkShoe has finally released a Facebook application and, at first glance, it wildly exceeds my expectations. You can check out the press release for specifics and screenshots, but this will allow you to listen live to Uncontrolled Vocabulary and participate in the chat room during the live call without ever leaving Facebook. Slick!

Apologies in advance

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

I’m going to increase the number of posts kept in the RSS feed, so that there will be more episodes available to subscribers. This may result in the republishing of a large number of posts. If so, I apologize for the RSS spam.

Episode 31 delayed…make that postponed

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

TalkShoe is experiencing some problems this evening. At this point, if TalkShoe gets it fixed, I’m planning on starting late, but pushing forward. May also explore a Skype-based alternative. I’ll update accordingly. Update 10:24 PM: Alas, too many problems to overcome. The show will go on tomorrow night (Thursday) at 10 PM. My sincerest apologies [...]
