Unfortunately, I can’t call in tonight, but I know people at the UIC Library, and the press has really spun the Annenburg papers story into just that – a story. No one currently involved with the collection at the library was around when the original finding aid was posted online, so no one knew that the donor hadn’t signed the papers. They just had to scrub SSNs and personal financial data before providing access, which they’ve done.
So it wasn’t really “reversing” their decision, since they had planned to provide access all along. I hope tonight’s discussion includes the full story, and not just what you’re reading in the Trib, which is well-known for its conservative slant.

Cool. Thanks for the perspective on that. You haven’t seen anything online where anyone from UIC provides that side of the story, have you?
