Roy, thanks for listening. I would never claim to completely grok anything anyone writes, but we DID talk about recording the info as presented. I pointed out (at around 30:30) that one of the issues with recording the title as presented on the title page is that, in many cases, the title is all caps. So I think it’s kinda harsh to suggest that we COMPLETELY missed the point. A little late, but we got there.

Unfortunately, I think you completely missed the point of my post. I wasn’t expecting catalogers to spend time changing the title from sentence case to title case, but simply record the title as it is on the item, which is almost exclusively title case. In other words, catalogers are spending time trying to figure out if there are any proper nouns, embedded titles, etc. NOW rather than simply recording it as is.
